Aglets, such as our Fancy Brass Aglet, have a long history. Used on the ends of linen or silk lacings, they provided a simpler execution of the elaborate lacing that was used to hold clothing together on the body. Especially common in the 16th and early 17th centuries, they could be plain to fancy. Our Fancy Brass Aglet is very similar to ones on a held in the collection of the MET Museum.
